Physician Bio

Research Experience

6/2010-6/2013

  • Boston University Medical Center, Boston, MA
NIH T32 Research Fellow, Department of Surgery/Pathology
Investigated immune system modulation in acute lung injury and sepsis in the murine model. Specifically, studied the effects of endotoxins on acute pulmonary inflammation/infection and the role of inflammatory biomarkers in intra-abdominal sepsis. Examined organ system dysfunction in sepsis and the role of A2B antagonists on modulating the cardiovascular system.

11/2003-2/2005

  • Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA
    Clinical Investigator
Designed a decision analysis study to compare two strategies for diagnosing subarachnoid hemorrhage. Compiled and analyzed articles on diagnostic methods, patient preference, cost, and adverse outcomes. Completed my Master's Thesis with Honors entitled, "Cost-effectiveness analysis of computed tomographic angiography versus lumbar puncture among acute headache patients with normal non-contrast computed tomography."

6/2003-8/2003

  • Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA
    Research Coordinator
Interviewed and enrolled 239 patients from Brigham and Women's Hospital into a multi-center study. Worked with principal investigator to develop site specific protocol. Compiled data and populated database. Conducted follow-up interviews with study participants. Published as Gerson LW, Camargo CA Jr, Wilber ST. Home modification to prevent falls by older ED patients. Am J Emerg Med. 2005 May;23(3):295-8.
