Primary Care Oncology
Why Consider St. Joseph Health Medical Group for Your Cancer Treatment?
Deciding where to seek cancer treatment can be a difficult choice. Many
cancer diagnoses require more than one medical specialty for treatment.
At St. Joseph Health Medical Group, we work as an integrated team to streamline
your care and treatment across the different specialists that are available
to you, including radiology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgery.
While diagnoses may be similar between patients, seldom is the course of
treatment. Therefore, once a diagnosis has been determined, your team
of physicians will evaluate all the possible choices to identify the best
approach for you. The result is a customized treatment plan for each patient
with the best outcome for you in mind. This individualized approach to
care makes us unique; it's why our patients say they would recommend
us to others.
SJHMG is also pleased to offer its patients access to cancer research studies
and clinical trials. There are several studies open presently and more
continue to become available. Visit our research page for more information.
And because our physicians and staff know that cancer is not just a physical
disease, we offer support programs to help you and your family cope with
every aspect of your treatment including financial counseling.
Support Groups and Self-Help
Sonoma, Napa, and Humboldt Counties have various cancer support groups
— not just for the person dealing with cancer, but for friends,
children, partners, and family members. Most support groups are free of
charge and are led by an experienced, professionally trained therapist
or social worker specialized in the challenges cancer presents. Others
are more informal, formed by patients who find benefit from just being
together. Additionally, SJHMG sponsors its own breast cancer support group,
and also refers people to numerous other support group opportunities.
