Who We Are

St. Joseph Health Medical Group offers radiation oncology services to treat cancer using Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), along with a new state-of-the-art treatment option for some breast cancer patients using the SAVI Applicator. As leaders and innovators in the use of these state-of-the-art treatments, our radiation oncologists can provide you with options that take advantage of numerous advanced techniques in radiation oncology.

Our radiation oncologists completed their residency and specialty training at the finest medical institutions from around the United States. By virtue of their broad training in all aspects of adult medicine, they are uniquely qualified to coordinate the complex care of patients requiring other types of cancer treatment offered at St. Joseph Health Medical Group, including medical oncology services and surgery.

Whatever type or combination of radiation therapy you receive, you will be cared for by a team of medical professionals dedicated to ensuring that you achieve the best possible results from treatment.

Medical Physicist

Medical physicists at the St. Joseph Health Medical Group work directly with your radiation oncologist in the treatment planning, quality control program, and delivery of a radiation therapy plan. They oversee the work of the dosimetrist and help ensure that complex treatments are properly tailored for your specific situation. Each have advanced degrees, together with several years of clinical physics training, and each is certified by the American Board of Medical Physics.

Dosimetrist

Our dosimetrists work with your radiation oncologist and the medical physicist to create a treatment plan that is just right for your situation. Their job is to carefully calculate the dose of radiation and develop a number of treatment plans that can best destroy the tumor while sparing the normal tissues. All of our dosimetrists are licensed by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.

Our radiation therapists are highly skilled licensed members of your cancer management team. They are responsible for accurately recording, interpreting and administering the treatment prescribed by your radiation oncologist. During your treatment, they observe your clinical progress and share that information with your radiation oncologist.
